about

When it was released on cassette in 1990, our mostly-improvised self-recorded album entitled Pork! quickly became a classic among friends and fans and inspired an hour-long video release called Pork Rinds. Lowbrow lyrics and two chord simplicity combined with demented cover songs proved to be the perfect recipe for Orange Hat in the college years. This DIY album was recorded on cassette four track in basements, apartments, the cavernous halls of an old music school and occasionally on our drummer's waterbed.

In 2011, we donned our aprons once again to cook up a remixed, remastered, repackaged, super deluxe edition of Pork. David Zeus Henderson thawed out the master tapes for a delicious new mix, and our pal Jason NeSmith mastered this feast for a world that no longer uses cassettes. For dessert, we opened the vaults and scraped the bottom of the Pork Barrel to serve up an additional 43 minutes of Pork Byproducts - including unreleased songs, live performances, radio transmissions, soundtrack tunes, a greatly extended Blistered Shank, spanish lessons, facts about sailors and small seaports in Washington state, the lowdown on Beave’s dad’s Ludwig drum set, “Dear John” answering-machine messages… in other words, the whole hog!

No inhibitions at all.
